The principal Mibject calling for comment is the falling off m the average a-ttondante. This, in the opinion of the committee, is accounted for in a gre.it measure by the extraordinary wet weather that has pie vailed in the district for a considerable tiu.e, and as in a groat many instances, childien attending the school live some distance therefrom, it must of necessity have considerably affected the daily attendance. Between the Ist January, 1883, and the 31st December following, the only change that has occurred in the teaching staff it, the resignation of Mro Hvatt, as sewing teacher, and the subsequent appointment of Miss Bright, who has throughout the year also acted as assistant teacher.
