KIHIKIHI.
The annual picnic so long associated with the school children's treat, and which, as a means of bringing parents and neighbours together in social intercourse and merriment at the beginning of the year, is now an old institution with us, came off on Wednesday last. The gioups 01 neatly dressed children, ai ranged in circles according to age on the green siward of the sloping terrace between the school and teacher's house presented a \ cry striking and pleasant appearance to those who were looking on fioni Lyonslieet, but the tables in the school-room with their mountains of rich cake, and chaste floial decorations were really most tempting and admirable, and reflect gteat ciedit on Mibs Donovan's taste and good management, as well as on that of the other ladies of the committee, namely, Mesdames McDonnell, Maunder, and Miss Sullivan. Our respected teachers, Mr and Mrs Nicholson, were most assiduous in their attention to the visitors and children. The To Awamutu band under Mr Sibley supplied the music. A dance in the Public Hall at night terminated a most agreeable day in every way. — (Correspondent. )
