THE PROPOSED CO-OPERA-TIVE ASSOCIATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Siu, — You are doing all you can to push the proposed co-operative association by continually bringing it before the public, but it seems to me if it i*> to be a success that borne other system is necessary for making our settlers* acquainted with it*, aims and objects. People are not so leady to part with their money that they will go to the trouble of finding out for themselves whether such a pioject is worthy ot support. I know a canvasser has been appointed to travel the district and solicit suppoit. Well, I believe he visited Te Awamutu, but I have not yet met with a person who saw him, and though I have asked a number of men what they think of the proposal not one seems ever to have given it a thought. I for one am disposed to view it favourably, and if I were satisfied that it would be organised on a sound basis, and afterwards prudently managed, I would willingly put a few pounds into it, and no doubt many others would do so too. Now, in order to disseminate information, and at the same time elicit discussion I would «ay, let the promoters appoint someone to visit every settlement in the district, and lecture in each place on the subject and answer questions, and return a second time after people have considered the matter, and I believe shares would be taken up quickly.— l am, •fee, Ignoramus.
