The Minister for Public Works. Auckland, Monday Night. Mr Mitchel^ox received various local deputations to day, but no question of special impoitance was introduced. He left for Pukekohe to-day, intending to ride to Wauiku, returning to Pnkelcohc in time to catch the six o'clock train, which will take him to Hamilton. He intends visiting Cambridge and other Waikato settlements, and leturnstoWelliugton on Tuesday.

Supreme Court. Iv the Supreme Court to-day, the case of Alley v. Banks, to compel specific performance of agreement to purchase land at Hikutaihi, was withdrawn, each party paying his own eo&ts.

Wool Sale. Messrs Hunter and Nolan bold about 160 bales of wool this afternoon. Longwool, in grease, biought fiovn oUI to (i^d per Ib ; and longwool, washed, 7§d ; while a small quantity of merino wool realised 7^d. Messts lieland, Warnock, Shetland and Potter were the principal buyers.

The Frozen Meat Company. Several tenders were leceived to-day by the New Zealand Frozen Meat Company for cutting down Britomait Point, Emily Place, and adjoining places. They will not, however, be opened for the present, pending arrangements of the conditions between the bodies interested.

Mining. The following mining telegrams ■vyere received this afternoon from the Prince Imperial:—"Two hundred weight of bpecimens from the stopes, No. 2 section west.—(Signed) G. S. Ciark." District Court. In the case Waikato Coal awl Shipping Company \. William Reid, claim, £7"h for freight, Mr Buller for plaintiff, and Mr HesUeth for defendant, by arrangement between counsel, judgement was given for the full amount.

Accident. Thomas Gavin, who sustained injuries to his spine through his horse rolling over him in Queen street on Friday hsfc, is doing very well in the hospital, and strong hopes are entertained of his recovery, which must, however, be a very long time.
