SUNDAY-SCHOOL PICNICS.

Ox New Year's Day the usual Sundayschool picnics were held in various parts of the distiict, and ah the day was exceptionally fine, the young folk, in every case, seemed to enjoy the outing. The pupils of S. Andiew's Sunday-school, Cambndge, held their fete at the usual place, in a paddock belonging to Mr J. S. Buckland, kindly placed at their disposal by that gentleman. Three hundred childien, with their teacheib and friends, were present, and the usual games weie provided, such as racing, jumping, cricket, &c. A most delightful day was closed with cheers for the host and those who had contributed to the days' pleasure. The childien attending S. Peter's Sundayschool, Hamilton, to the number 130, were entertained in the grounds of Mr Jolly, adjoining the Lake, and passed a very pleasant day. Liberal prizes were offeied for racing, &c, and the young people entered with great heartiness in to the competitions. The childien attending the Cambridge Wesloyan Sunday-school pas&ed a very pleasant day in Mr W. Clare's paddock. The Baptist Sunday-school scholars held their picnic at the farm of Mr Hugh Fitzgerald, Pukenmu, and the pupils of the Cambridge Presbyterian school took their outing on the farm of Mr Brown, Tamahere. The teachers and scholars of the Trinity Wesleyan Sunday-school, Hamilton, received an invitation from Mr Maunder to spend the day at his residence. The scholarg met at the school at 10 o'clock, where conveyances were awaiting to tnke them to their destination. The school children numbered over 80, and> with childreu and adults there were over ICO present. Mr, Mrs and the Misses Maunder catered for the wants of all in a bountifi 1 manner. During the day games of all descriptions were indulged in, includirg cricket and races for the scholars. A laigo mimber of prizes were given to the sum s«fnl competitors. Three cheers, lustily given to Mr, Mrs andtheMisses Maunder for their kindness, brought to a close a most enjoyable day, and all returned home well pleased with their day's outing. < > ' '
