Straw sold well, but hay was at lower values. A combined reaper and mower sold for £21. Horse stock were offered numerously. Active draught and strong riding brought from £15 to £20, and horses of a smaller class from 50.* and upwards. Consequent on the holidays the usual hide and skin sale was held on Monday. There was ihd'mvtnl attendance of buyers. , Best hides brought from 2£d to 3d the lb. ; sheepskins, Is Id to 3s Gdeach, Tallow 25s the .; . cwt. ; bags and bundles of wool, from 4d to sjd the lb. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows, near their calving, were in batter better enquiry than of late. Not many store cattle yarded. Fat cattle in average supply and last weeks fairly sustained. Sheep in short supply and consequently better worth about Is each. Lambs m moderate number 'and at last week's values. Waikato averages wsre : 24 steers, H. and J. Goodfellow, £9 10s ; 7 steers, E. Allen, £9 ; 8 steers, C. * Storey, £8 17 ; 9 steers, W. Taylor, £8 13s 9d ; 50 lambs, J. and C. Gould, 10s. Mkssrs Huntkk and Nolans Repokt. — Horses : The supply has been very large, and there still exists a demand for really sound useful horses. The ] )urliam Yards on Friday were filled to overflowing, between 200 and 300, owing to the large drafts, which were intended for the fair, arriving too late. The bulk of the lot were disposed of afc fairly witisfactory prices. Heavy draughts were especially in demand, at from £37 to £u'4 ; medium draught £19 10s to £29 ; light harness, £13 10s to £17 ; good hacks, £15 to £37 ; young unbroken light stock sold low. Cattle : In consequence of Tuesday being Christmas day, we held our usual weekly sale ou Saturday, which naturally lessened the amount of stock of all descriptions brought forward. For fat , cattle the doinand was spirited, and a con- . siderable advance was given on late quotations, some choice pens reaching 30-. per lOOlbs. Sheep : A limited number yarded, snd little altercation in value. Lambs were penned in sufficient number with no alteration in price. Pigs : Some good poker» sold well. Wool ; At our third wool sale of this season about 200 bales and package^ were catalogued. Bidding was brisk, and former quotations fully maintained.
