YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS. [BY TELEGRAPH. ]
KiuiKiui, Wednesday Night. A number of natives assembled in front of Kewi's house to-day to discuss the cost of surveying the land. Mr Bryce was not present, but Messrs Wilkinson, Native Agent, and Mr Percy Smith were present, and answered questions. Several natives expressed themselves as being willing to pay the cost of the boundary sunej, the trig to be paid by Government. Rewi cxpiessed himself in a precisely similar way, which met the approbation of the natives. Jolih Ormaby asked if the coat of the sui vey was to be a lien on the land, would it stop the sale till paid. Mr Smith : Yes. The land can be sold when the money is paid. He also said that the total coat of the survey, i'l6oo, would entitle the owneis to s\ certificate of title. The natives were agreeable to this. Considerable prhate influence is at work to get the survey done privately instead of by Government.
