THE HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL. INSTALLATION OF MAYOR.

A jrrcßrr.vo of t/ie Council foi 6/ie purpose of installing the newly elected mayor, Mr Robert Peat, was held at noon ye->terd.iy, Theie weie present : (>■.. Bradley, McDonald, Tippen, Cochrano and (T.uidin. The Town Clerk, lead an apology from the retiring mayor, Mr John Kno <, who was prevented by illness from attending. He also apologised for the absence of Cr. Yon Stunner, who was away from town. Or. (xaiuliu, the senior Councilor was voted to the chair. The Clerk then read the notification of the election and the new mayor made the usual declaration. The chairman, in formally installing the new nnyor, said he was sorry the retiring mayor, was not present to perform the office, Had it not been that he was seriously indisposed, Mr Kno< would have been present. He had gre.it pleasure in congratulating Mr Peat on his election to the chair, and hoped he would meet with a measure of success equal to that of his
