As the Conventiou to-day, Mr Dibbs, Colonial T leasiuei of New South Wales, gave notice of motion requiring the various Government to be pledged to bubinit to their LogLslatuie-, the various i evolutions that may be come to by the Convention. Sir Geoige Dcs V;eux, (io\enwi of Fiji, gave notice of a motion having for it-, object the pievention of the unrestricted purchases of land in New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. Mr Bray, Piemier of South Australia, tabled a motion in favour of lequesting the Imperial Government to introduce a Bill for the constitution of an Australasian Federal Council. Mr Giblin, Premier of Tasmania gave notice of a motion for the appointment of the Premieis of Victoria, New South Wales South Australia, Queensland, and New Zealand as a committee to cairy out the object of and summon the Convention when iiecessaiy, MrSeiviceto be Chairman of the committee.
Sydney, Decembor 0, A telegram was read at the Convention yesterday announcing that France lay> claim to'the following islandh, orgioup.s of islands, in the Pacific:—New Caledonia, the Loyalties, Pines, Marquesas (eleven islands), Societies, Tahiti, Morea, Low Archipelago (eight island*), Australs, Tubai, Koito, and Kapa. France is willing that the LjowKiid Inlands near Tahiti should be independant.
