SUICIDE AT ORAKAU. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Te Awamutu, Monday.
Mr Eixih, .a settler, of Orakau, committed suicide by drinking verdigris and nitric acid, used for footrot. He took the poison on Friday at noon, and died on Sunday at noon. He was of unsound mind, with a mania for suicide. He had only recently arrived from England by the Doric. The family applied remedies immediately, and sent for JJr Blundcu, Avho attended till death supervened. An inquest will be held by Major Jackson, J. P. to-morrow (Tuesday), in the absence of the coroner. Doceased was to have been sent to the Asylum, and has been constantly watched by his bi others, who had forgotten the fact of the bottle of poison being left in the .stockyaid, where it was covei ed with jjr.iv>. 13 jforo they had time to stop him he drank enough to kill him.
