Alexandra started well, and owing to the really good pltiy of (irierson (27), well heconded by Chapman (a nice bat, 11), and Benge (1(>), (free hitting all round), they got tip to 84, which should have been less but for .somo badly missed catches. Holloway, however, did his share in this line, making three catches, two being very smart ones. Stevens did the hat trick, getting three wickets (nil caught) in three balls. Hamilton went in a second time, and put together 103 before 0 o'clock. Beale 17, Stevens 13 (not out), Edgecnmbe 14 (not out), and Wood 10, being the highest scorns. Stevens' batting was again excellent, and the same may be said of Hinton's bowling all through the game.
