NATIVE OBSTRUCTION AT MURIMUTU. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wanganui, Last Night.
Nutws arrived in town this morning that the survey party under Mr Thorpe, cugaged on thp sin vey.s of tlie sub-division of the Murimutu block, weie htopi>ed by native** under a chief named Aropeta Haerekutei.ingi. When they c.ime back to where the tent was left on Fiiday morning, they found everything gone — tent and aalandl — and on a search being m.ide, it was found they had been taken by the above-named chief, who refused to give possession unless the survey is abandoned. Mr Thorpe has sent a me itsengei 1 to apply to the Government for assist nice, and application will also be made to the police. No violence is reported.
