WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tun ordinary meeting of the council was held, on Tuesday, September 11th. Piebent : Mr Lake (chiirman), Cr<«. Lamb, Germann, Tea^dale, Lang, Grice, Bruce and Steele. — The by-laws were .suspended for the remainder of the meeting upon the motion of Or. Steele. — Mr Bond, senior, being present, deshed information of the council as to the disposal of suiplus road near Te Awamutu bridge. The course prescribed by the Public "Woikh Act not being satisf«vetory, he declined to move for the dispobal of the suiplus road. CoiutEbroxnENCE.— The Pukekura Board wrote, .suggesting that the council pay Mr McLaren Ll5, as compensation for alleged damage through a road deviation. It was pioposcd, " That the suggestion of the boaid bs accepted." An amendment was proposed, " That no compensation be ])aid Mr McLaren," but the motion way carried, — The Alexandra Town Board wrote re state of the Waipa bridge. The engineer reported that the only thing was * to rebuild the bridge. The council resolved that until satistactory arrangements are come to for Raglan's share the bridge be fenced off as dangeious, but that the conncil will pay half cost of a new bridge if the other half be found elsewhere.— The Property Tax Commissioner wrote re corrected rolls. The clerk was directed to prepare all rate-books required for general and special rates tnroughout the county. CouxrY Rate. — Cr. Lake moved, and Or. Bruce seconded, " That a general rate of § of a penny be made at the next ordinary meeting, and such special rates as are required for repayment of loans chargeable upon Pukekura, Newcastle and Hamilton districts." As an amendment Gr. Steele moved, and Cr. Lang seconded, " That a rate of one farthing be made. For the amendment ; Crg, Ste,elo, Lang, and Germann. Against ; Crs. Lake, Teasdale, Grice "and Bruce. The amendment was lost. The motion was then put and earned. ' The Engineer's Report was received, and the' following repairs ordered : — Rotorangi-Mangapiko road, drahiB to be sluiced out at a cost'of not more than L 2 5; Kihikihi road, day-labour to bs engaged filling holes and ruts. — The engineer was directed; t© diqpqse of refuse, hriqge? timber. seconded, " That a committee bs appointed to revise the by-lawn, the committee to con- , slot of Crs. Lake, Stojle, aud tl\o raovev."' Carriod. — Cr. Lake moved and Cr. Lamb seconded, " That the fees for dogs remain the t.ame for the ensuing year.'' Carried, j The Clerk was directed to invite tenders for a supply of collars. Payments to the amount 1 of L 123 were authorised, and the council rose.
