PRECAUTIONS IN CASE OF FIRE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sin, — As a traveller through this district I was vevy pleased to be able to attend a concert given in the Public Hall at Carobiidge a few nights ago, and was agreeably surprised at the able manner in which the hinging was performed, and also was pleased to see such a large and appreciative audience. -The hall was literally crowded, ijiany being obliged to stand. lam naturally an observant nian, and whilst looking on and listening, I tried to imagine the effect of a fire alarm on that audience, and the possibility of an escape from the building in case of fire, and was astonished to notice that the doors open inwards instead of outwards, and' that the crush of people against it would make It impossible to open the door, and should a fife occur whilst an entertainment r -vvas going on, loss of life njus^ bj§ l the result. *In my lxumble opinion 1 it is the, auty, ofcitha ! propar;4ul&oritiea, to see into the matter.and make an alteration. —I tan, J &c. s i, '*'s■-£' T- r I V AM< >i / C -' r >~ t »-«j;7'''AkpSsE^VAiircTfiAVELLm -
