Mr Wiiitaki:k, replying to Mr Chamberlain, said he saw no reason why the session should not end by Wednesday week. SirG. Whitmorcmoved that the Council should not consider any bills not circulated 48 hours previously. Ultimately the resolution was amended by a reasonable time, being substituted for 4S hours, and carried. The Waitara Harbour Loan Bill passed by 19 to 9. The Licensing Act Amendment Bill and the Waimate High School Bill were read a third time, and passed. The Corrupt Practices Amendment Bill, and the Licensing Act Amendment Bill No. 2 were read a second time. The Council resumed at 7.30. The Gold Duties Abolition Bill was referred to the Goldfields Committee. The School Committees Election Bill, Westland High School Bill, and Charitable Gifts Duties Exemption Bill were read a second time. The Coroners Act Amendment Bill was discharged. The Council rose at 8.30.
