CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.

A meeting of the above body was held at the Town Board office, Cambridge, on Saturday last at 5 o'clock, Present Messrs T. Wells (chairman), B. B. Walker, and John Fisher. The minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed. Town Gravel Pits.— The notice of the Board was drawn to the fact that contractors and others had been carting gravel from a pit on the north side of the Like without permission. Mr Lovett had been written to on the matter, but had not desisted.— lt was agreed that Mi Lovett be again requested to comply with the letter of tho Board of the Bth May, within one month from date, failing which the matter would be put in tlie hands of Messrs Whitaker and Campbell, solicitors, to be dealt with. Thk Recreation Reserve.— Mr Wells said one of the most important niatteis to be brought before the meeting was the dealing with the recreation leserve of 05 acres, now fenced in and laid down in grass, and situate on the Victoria rood. The feed in this enclosure would be very valuable in a very short time They had the power to let it for 21 years, but he imagined that the board would letjit only from year to year. It was a reserve'set apart for the benefit and recreation of the public. In fact it was the now available part of the domain lauds for recreation. Whatever arrangements they should make, they should stipulate that when under lease from year to year the ground should be opened for any purpose the people of the town would require it for, in the way of holiday recreation, sports, &c— Mr Walker thought they should keep a place available foi slaughter-house purposes, say a slice oft this leservc, having in view the rapid development of the frozen meat industry in the piovincc. — Mr Fisher suggested that a registiy book be kept, say at the board ofhee, and every head of cattle or horse be registered with its maiks of identity carefully noted. Every cow should have a collar, and those found running about town without collars should be passed into the charge of tho local pound keeper. —Mr Wells suggested that tondcjs be called for the leasing of the reserve, the lessee not to charge more than so much per head per week.— Mr Walker then proposed a resolution partinlly in accoulanoe with the suggestion of Mr Wells, the lessee to take in such of the town cows and hoises as may offer, the gionnd to be leased for a teim of one year, tenders to be in by that day fortnight; Tin's was seconded by Mr Fisher, and carried— lt was also agreed that the advertisement calling for tenders be inserted in The Wmkato 'lima. DcKArLTiNuLKAREiioLDiiRS.-Thechair-man said the next matter for the consideration of the meeting was what was to bo done witn the defaulting leaseholder. — A list of dcfanltcis was laid on tho table —Mi Walkef suggested that Mr Fit/»erald ha\e a turn at the defaulter for a time, and felt convinced the bcuid would inateiully benefit by the experiment.— Mr Wells suggested that tho Governor be loeommeinled to entei on sections 33, 50, and f>7, Cambiidgc West, and sections If), 29, 47, and 48, Cambiidge East, the lessees being six quarters in area with their rent. — This suggestion having taken the form of a resolution was carried. — Mr Wells also suggested that the secretary be instructed to serve the lessees who "« ere one or more quarters in arrcar with notice that unless the same be paid up within fourteen days fiom date the accounts be handed over to a solicitor for recovery.— Agreed to.
