WAHANUTS PROPOSALS.
Reoahdixo the important native meeting, to which we referred a few days ago, it seems Wuhanui lias not been so successful as he anticipated in ai ranging the matter of the boundaries of the land to be dealt with by Parliament. He sent a few of his messengers to llewi at Pumii, but Rewi, apparently not desirous of having anything to do in the matter, told the messengers to inform Wahanui that it was his (Rcwi's) desire that the boundaries should be drawn into the Waipa- river as the lands between the Punui and it were at present in a state which did not permit of any meddling. The natives of Aotearoa were interviewed on the matter by a deputation from Wuhanui, and they were in a like unfavourable mood towards AVahanui's proposal. They flatly refused to have anything to do with the petition v» hen asked to sign, saying that such a lot of these petitions, papeis, and documents, regardins the anaugeincnt and disposal of their land, had been brought to them to sign that of late they had got confused, and would not now ha\e anything to do with any of them.
