TAURANGA, Thursday. The Rotorua-Patetcre block is occupying the land Court at Ohinemutu. The hearing will probably extend ov'eija month. The block comprises 200.000 .acres. The proposed Thames Valley Riilway passes through it. There is a marked difference apparent between the proceedings at Oliineimitu and at the Cambridge Courts. AtOnincmutu the natives, with much dignity, are conducting their casscs without l.iwyeis and their cormorants, and the bcha\iour in the Court is highly creditable. Not a voice is heard bnt that of the interpreter or witness, through tho Court house is densely crowded. The New Zeiiaud Manure and Chemical Company has been formed for the purposes of working the valuable sulphur, gyps ntn, and hematite deposits on White Island, and duly incorporated. .Shares are rapidly being taken up. The capital is £30,000 at 20s each. The first issue is 10,000 shares. Last Night. Bodell's four cottages in Selwynstrecfc, were burned down this morning. The fire originated in one building occupied by Mr Crago. It is reported that the buildinus arc insured in the Standard office for £256, and Crago's furniture and effects are insured in the New Zealand office for £90. In both cases the occupants had just time to escape, as there was a heavy gale from the north-west.
