FIRE AT HAMILTON EAST.

The dwelling-house of Mr James Dnley, situated on the Domain lands, Hamilton East, was burned down last eveniqg. The fire, which is said to have been caused by some defect in the stove, broke out about 8 o'clock, aqd in a short Hme the building was in ashes. Mr and Mrs Daley succeeded in saving a few things' that .were in the fronkroonw, but by far. the greater part of the contents Were consumed. The cottage stood some distance , from any other habitation, and hence help was not at hand. The house was insured for £50, but Mr Daleys lost must be four times that dmount.
