GISBORNE, Saturday. Mn Mathkw Price, late Kesident Magistrate at Gisborue, died on Thursday, at the icsidence of his daughter, Mrs Mathews, Bank of New Zealand, at the nge of sixty-six years. His end has been undoubtedly hastened through exposure when burnt out at his lodgings a few Weeks ago, at the time when Mr Gruner's house was destroyed.

NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday. The Bank of New Zealand has purchased from MrCarrington the land on which the Masonic Hotel stands, in the centre of the town, for £6000. The bank intends immediately to build on the site a handsome building.

NELSON, Last Night. It is feared that Morris Bucholz, the third son of Mr S. Bucholz, an old resident of this district has been drowned in the Takaka River.

GREYMOUTH, Last Night. The first of four charges against M. N. Morton, for stealing gold from his neighbour's sluice box, commenced in the District Court this morning. A good deal of public interest is felt in theicase, Morton being a well-to-do miner. The jury went out to see the place, the judge concurring with all the counsel engaged, as it was almost impossible to understand the evidence without seeing the ground.
