The chair was occupied by Bro. Knox, W.M., and the vice chairs ifylßros. CaAip. dud? Fdvy..*' After full justice had beefTdoheito filie/excellent repast provided by MnlGwytine, ttfe chairman proposed the toast of the Queen and Royal Family, which was honoured with every expression of loyalty. < The toast of the Governor was followed by the ,foas*t of, ,thp evening. "The , glorious, pious and'mimortal memory of William 111., Prince of Orange," which was drank in solemn silence.-, To this succeeded the toasts of " The Imperial Grand Master .of the World, the Earl of, Enuiskillin," "The Grand Master of New Zealand, Bro. Gold ie," and "Lodges Nos. 17 and 21." This last toast was responded to by Bro. Wright. W M., of No. 21, who, in the course of an interesting speech, re/erred . ,tq the .principles; which , ought,' to guide Orangemen !at this present day. He said their object was not to make war on their Roman Catholic fellow subjects, but rather to maintain the principles of religious freedom for which their ancestors had fought. In this country, he was happy to say, they had learned to repress the prejudices of their forefathers, and remembered only the' grand '• objects of' their order. The W.M. pioposed the memory of their late respected Past Master, Bro. Richard Gwynne, a toast which was honoured w ith solemn silence. Several other toasts succeded, including that of " The Press," to which Mr S. E. G. Smith ( The Waifatto Than) responded, and " The' Hostess." The rest of the evening was devoted, to, harmony. There Mas no public demonstration in any other part of the Waikato.
