TAWHIAO STOPS THE WAY.

A Raglan correspondent, writing on Snnrlay night, informs us that on the previous evening Tawhiao with a party of natives arrived at the camp of Mr T. Burd, Government surveyor, on the new line of road to Kawhia, and ordered him to stop the suney, or his instruments would I)e taken away. Mr Burd's e.\mp was inside the boundary, but it was his intention to commence on the other side yesteid.iy. Tawhiao professed to be angry with the native, but his present conduct does not bear out the peaceable character he then assumed. It now remains to be seen what the Government will do.
