LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. YESTERDAY.
In the Council tc-Jay, debate was resumed on the New Hebrides resolution, which was opposed by Mi* Wilson, and supported by Messrs Chamberlin, Dignan and Pollen. The resolution was then carried. Mr Oliver moved that the Council concur in the resolution passed by the House re the expenditure for June. Sir G. Whitmore condemned the Government for breaking the law in obtaining the imprest. Mr WhitaUer maintained that the action was strictly legal, and said it was taken by his advise. Mr Wilson thought the Government had not acted rightly. Tl.e motion was agreed to. The Council rose at 5.30 p.m.
