CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night.
A payable goldfield in Canterbury, not mote than 45 miles from Christcluuoh, is repotted. Samples of auriferous sand, ineasuiing two quarts and wciglimg ten pounds, was tested by the Government Analyst at Wellington. He reports that it will run about 30 pennyweights to the ton. The locality is not to be disclosed until the public guarantee of ,i."so) is paid to the discoverers.
