The pti/es aio to be given with the object of encouraging those piipils who may not be so highly fitted in point of ability as others, and who, though they may not stand at the heads ot their lespeetivo classes at the end of the term, have shown, ne\eitheloss, the most dilligenee and pei severance to yet on Tiie worthy nature of the object for which the entertainment was gnen was successful in bunging together an unusually laige audience of patents and friends, who. fiom all appeal ance, thoroughly enjoyed the musical treat afforded them. Financially, as in every other respect, the concert was a success. The chair was occupied by the chairman of the school committee, Mr G. F. Hosking. The children of the choir ueie arranged on the platfoim undtr the leadeiship of MesstsT. Bell and Stewart. The most noticeable features on the programme weie the o\ertuie by the Misses Gillett, the piano solo by Miss M. Nixon, the piano duet by Misses Ilicks and Webber, and the piano duel by the Misses Foirest, the playing of Miss M. Nixon being especially worthy of commendation, and reflecting gt eat credit on her instructress. At the conclusion of the entertainment the thanks of the committee were tendered to Messis Wilson and Arnaboldi for the trouble they had taken in assisting the children, also to Mr T, A. Bell for his voluntary services m connection with the affair. The following is the programme : — Programme: Overture, "Maichofthe Men of Harlech," the Misses Gillett ; chorus, "Trip it Lightly," choir ; recitation, "Men of England," Master W. Clark ; part song, '' Gently Evening Blendeth," choir; recitation, ''The Words of the Waves," Miss E. Dillon; chorus, "Indian Warrior's Grave," choir ; solo and chorus, "Kiss Me Mother," Miss S, Davis and choir ; recitation, "The Drum," Miss A. Alford; chorus, "Who is a Brave Mau," choir; part song, •' Welcome to Spring," choir ; piano solo, selections from "Martha," Miss M. Nixon. Interval of ten minutes. Overture, Airs from "I Lombardi," Miss A. Webber: chorus, "Some Folks," choir; recitation, " My Father's Pare," Miss S. Davis ; part song, " Fairy Land," choir ; piano duet, "Ah chf Assorta," Misses *M. Hicks and A., Webber; chorus "Star of Peace" choir; recitation, ''Richard Coour de Leon," Misa 0, Nixon ; chorus,
