The Opera House Squabble. Auckland, Last Night. The Police Court was occupied all day with the charge brought by Mr Browning, sftlicifor, against Mr Heaps, custodian of the Qperp, Hou.se, for assault. The evidence was conflicting on the question as to who strupk the first blow, though the particulars were generally confirmatory of the accounts of the affair already published. A large number of witnesses for the defence Mere examined, who swore Mr Browning struck first. The magistrate dismissed the case without calling all the witnesses for the defence, the bench stating they had heard enough to satisfy it both parties were to blame, each party to pay his own costs.

Denniston was elected trustee. The debtor lias property vilued at some £2000, but there are moitgnges upon it amounting to about £1200.

Auckland Presbytery. At the Presbyteiy to-day the Rev. Mr MacCalhun accepted a call fiom the Notth Shore. An application was received from the Rev. Mi Ni \ille for pcimission to lease a poitkm of the chinch site sit KihiLihi. Refened to the Church Property Committee to lepoifc.
