Thk usual foitnightly meeting of the above body was h«lcl at the Council Chambers, .flamiltpn West, last e\ ening. Present : His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Peat, MacDonald, Jones, Bradley, Cdchrane and Lovett. — A letter was received from the Relieving Officer, Auckland, remitting 20s on account of a sick and destitute person. Tho matter of the illegibility of the inscriptions on the pound and bridge notice boards was discussed. It was agreed, -on the motion of Cr. Peat, to have the boards relettpred, and a notice punted in Maori placed adjoining ordinury notice board at the bridge. His Woiship apologised for the absence of Cr. Yon Stunner, who was absent on account of illness. The follow mc accounts were passed for payment : — Wilsons) .ui'l Horton, £3 los ; F. Jones, £.5 l.Ts ; Waikntn Tunes, £15 6s {)(!; A. Campbell, £13 10s; J. Hinton, £3 2s. — The statement of funds was read, as follows: — Geneial account (overdraft), -CiSO 18s 4d ; special fund account (credit), £1,~>3 0s 2d. Tlic Works Committee reported on the works in progress in the borough. The daymen were employed on the main drain*'. It was resolved that the clerk furnish a memo to the Mayor, who is proceeding to Auckland, showing the cost of telegrams sent to the Eelie\ ingOfticer in cases of relief required, in order that the Mayor might apply to Mr Graham for reimbuiscment. Cr Jones called for a return by the next sitting of the council, of the cost inclined in calling for tenders during the past year. This was all the business.
