[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN REPORTER.]

Cambridge. Last Night. The Land Comt adjourned this afternoon until to-morrow morning, owing to the absence of Mr Shcehan.

AMALGAMATION of tha WAIKA TO STIiA M NA VIGA TION COMFA NY WITH THE WAIKATO GOAL OO.UFANY.

A\ amalgamation of the Waikato Steam Navigation Co. witli the Waikato Coal Co. has lately been effected. The new company will trade under the style of the Waikato Coal anil Shipping Company. Already projects are on foot for extending the business of the company on the West Coast. Until lately the steamer Waikato has been making trips between Manukau anil the Waikato Heads, but, finding this vessel not altogether suitable, it Avas decided to purchase, if possible, a steamer of about 130 tons burthern, of light draught and good power, adapted for the trade between Jlanukau and Waitara, calling at Kawhia, Raglan, and Waikato Heads if necessary. Throughout the South Island, and in the Australian colonies, enquiries have been made, but in most cases it is found that any steamers answering these requirements are fully occupied. It is, therefore, more than probable that an order will at once be despatched to England for the vessel. The company own a block of about 15,000 acres on the west bank of the Waikato. This property emblazes the coal mines, first worked in the distiict, and is known to contain a quantity of mineral wealth which only requires a bridge over the "Waikato river to soon bring into acti\ B de\ elopinent. On the east or Huntly tide of the Waikato river thedbompany own about 150 acres, which will shortly be surveyed into lots from one quarter to 5 acres each, forming the nucleus of a township which ere I long must spring up in this locality.
