Our own correspondent, writing fronv^ Kawhia on the 2nd inst., says: — "£. large number of Europeans, but very few* Maoris are awaiting Mr : Bryce's arrival here. There will evidently be very little demonstration on the part of the natives on the occasion of his visit, as they, have just received a letter from King Tawhiao requesting them not to meet Mr Bryce, as he Had refused to allow any public reception to be given him at Wangamii. What people are at present here are amusing themselves tieliing and visiting the several places of interest in the neighbourhood.
