< '■ BLENHEIM, Last Night. An old settlor named W. Pipe was acuidcntly killed on Sunday. He was riding along a disused track in Warren Valley, when his horse bolted and lan into a telegraph pole, killing his rider instantly. A verdict of accidental death was returned at the inquest.
OHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The Ho n H. W. Reynolds, chairman of the Electric Light aiul Power Company (Limited), accompanied by Mr W. ft Si Vi N^PlEBJr'Yesterday. P. Willianis, siieep farmer, near" West Clive, M-.as found drowned yesterday evening. The young lady was missed at tea-time. An extensive search was made, and the neighbours were communicated with. The search continued all Sunday, Avhen the body was found in a cesspool at the back of the house. The Exchange Hotel, Havelock, fourteen miles from here, was totally destroyed by fire last night. ' The building contained 23 rooms, and was insured for £1000, the furniture for £300, and the -stock for £200 all in the Union office. „ , The statement of the hospital accounts shows that since 1577 to ihe present.time JC91.200 has been subset ibed by the public and contributed by local bodies, but the total amount of subscription received from the Government only reached £3,710 during the same period.
