PRESENTATION TO MISS NEWELL, ORGANIST OF S. PETER'S HAMILTON.
A ciniKMOvv of a very pleasing natun took place iv 8. Peter's ■ Church, Hanul- , ton, at the close of the atinuai meeting ; of parishoners on Thursday evening. The . ceremony took the form of the presento tion of an illuminated addiess and a gold watch and chain to Miss Newell, -tht orgaui&t of the. church. The congregation recognising the great value — all the i greater because they were always rendered with zeal and enthusiasm — ol Miss Newell's services, had determined some time ago to express in a practical way their sense of indebtedness." Nc difficulty arose in regard to funds, as every member of the congregation was only too eager to contribute, and accor dingly nothing remained but to wait lot the annual meeting, to make the presentation. The Rev. Mr Biggs, in the presentation, spoke as follows : — Ladies and Gentlemeu, a very pleasant task now devolves upon me. My duty 'is to ask the acceptance by a lady of this congregation of a watch and chain, las a small token of the esteem m which we all hold her services to this church. During the short time I have had the pleasure to be ainougst you I have been able to form an estimate of the great value of those services, and you, who have had a longer experience, will, I know, heartily endorse what I have said. The rev. gentleman then read the address, which was as follows : —

We feel that we\cannot adequately express out sense of gratitude for your untiring zeal and persevering attention, notwithstanding many discouragements and involving much selfdenial, and we hope Hvr may long enjoy your truly efficient aid in the endeavour to make our service somewhat worthy the acceptance of Him to whom it is offered. It gives, us very great pleasure to beg your acceptance of the accompanying watch and chain as a small Vtokcn 'of our esteem and regard.— We' are, Yours (Very sincerely, R. O'C .
