CHRIST CHURCH, TAUPIRI. Annual Meeting.
On Sunday last, after service, the annual .meeting of the Taupiri Chni'ch was held. There was a fair attendance of parishioners, the Rev. H. H. Davis in the chaii*T The secretary, Mr Melling, read the minutes of the last meeting which were confirmed. The accounts showed a small deficiency. In his address, tUe chairman said it gave him niuoh pleasure to be able to congratulate the church on the success which had attended tlipir work, and the hearty unanimity of feeling ) which had prevailed amongst them throughout the year. Considering the smallness of the population, the congregation had been good and regular. , A. y Sunday-school had been commenced, aiid well sustained by the zealous efforts of three lady members of . the church,- 'two of whom had to walk a long distance to attend. They Jiad to , regret the departure of Mr Thorn, who had served the church we'll' during his stay at' Ta*upiri| but were glad that bis place had been so, efficiently supplied by their present lay-reader, Mr J,. Jackson., On the whole^ while there was still much to be done by all the 1 church j its> officers and minister had every reason ','tp thank .Qrod,, and ;take : .courage.!' The .officers for "the eWuimj^vear 4 were then 'elected. The Rev. HT S.'* Davis nominated' Mr James Jackson as minister's warden. Mr ,B. Brown was elected people's church'Varden/ aftd ' Messrs'!
