Non-arrival of the Governor. WKtiMNCTON, Last Night. The steamer Wakatipu, from Sydney, with Sir W. Jervois on board, has been anxiously looked for all day, but up to 7.30 this evening had not put in an appearance. Arrangements by the reception committee were completed, and large crowds, principally women and children, were waiting about the Queen's Wharf the whole afternoon. This delay has, of course, somewhat upset the arrangements made for the receptiou of Sir William, but a definite course of action will no doubt be decided upon this evening. To-day was observed as a partial holiday, and the steamer's non-arrivjil is much more inconvenient inasmuch as that tomorrow is Saturday, aud Monday a holiday. If possible the official landing will take place at two o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
The South Island Railway. The Commissioners who recently took evidence respecting the beat route for the continuation of the main trunk line of the Middle Island Railway, arc expected to \ isit Wellington .shortly, when their report to be submitted to Government will be drawn up.
%^ Mr Milner Stephen. Milner Stephen gives another exhibition of his healing powers to-morrow afternoon. A small charge for admittance will be made on behalf of the local benevolent institution.
