The ejection case was resumed this moi ning, when the case for the defence was entered upon. The first evidence intioduccd was to the effect that some eight of the defendants w ere not at the scene atall, and that, if at the scene, took no part whatcvCT in the work of alleged expulsiou. This evidence was introduced with the intention of obtaining the discharge of moi e of the accused, ten having been discharged on the previous day. The lease was then put in evidence, consisting ot two deeds of lease, one bigned by nine grantees, and the other signed by the one remaining grantee — Mr Hay objected to the documentb being received as a lease, because neither of them as as signed by the ten grantees. _ The lease was put in subject to the objection, the prosecution admitting that all native duties bad been paid on the lease, and that the Frauds Commissions Act had been complied with ; and alto that Mr Walker was the lawfully authored attorney of Mcssis G nee and Benn, the lessees of the block, for the purpose mentioned in the power of attorney. Evidence was then called to prove the continuous occupation of the block from 1870, and to prove this Capt. Owen was called. The case was then adjourned until 10 o'clock yesterday morning.
