IMPORTANT MEETING OF NGA TIMANIAPOTOS.
During last week Wetere and Rewi aud other chiefs of the Ngatimaniapoto, met at Puuiu and sent a messenger for Mr W. U. Gi'ace to Kihikihi. The object ot the chiefs, as stated to Mr Grace, was to discuss the amnesty question. Mr Grace advised that he should telegraph to Mr Moss, M.H.R., to come up and sec them on the subject. It was accordingly agreed, that he (Mr Grace} should do so, and that Mr Moss should meet him 011 the following Tuesday. Mr Moss accoidingly went up ,to Kihikihi on Monday evening, and went over to the settlement the following morning with Mr Grace. At the meeting on Tuesday morning, Rewi, Wahanui, Wetere, and other chiefs were present. The question of amnesty was again brought under discussion, when it was finally agreed that the chiefs should make application to the Government on the following day, asking them to use the powers given them under the Amnesty Act, as referring to natives.
