FREEING THE HAMILTON BRIDGE.

The Maypc also invited the hon. ,Mr Whitaker to perform the ceremony of freeing the bridge, an& J flhe.7 I?remier,,i 'ralthpugh pressed with work, has consented. As he leaves for Wellington on Monday or Tuesday week, he has arranged 'to 1 be iv Hamilton on Thursday next. The ceremony ,w,ill accordingly take -place on that day. The programme will be as follows : — The borough authorities will meet the Premier at th 6' railway station, and drive him to the bridge, where the spectators . will be assembled. » The children of both. schools will be asked to attend and *sing' some appropriate' piece's/ and the Hamilton Band will also be invited to take .part an tHe c cerfem6ny. ji After he has declared the bridge free, the Premier will be entertained at luncheon by the Mayor, to which the mem bers of the two county councils and the chairmen of highway districts in. the vicinity of Hamilton, and the metn-f bers for the district, Messrs J., B. Whyte and F. A. Whitik'er will be invited. In the evening there will be a free ball in the Volunteer 'Hall for such of the burgesses as choose to be there, and at which refreshments will be provided. A special meeting of the borough council will be held on Monday night tor the purpose of removing the tolls, and voting the Mayor the funds' necessary to carry out the ceremony of declaring the bridge free. •>'•' J " i i 4 ' ' ' ' ' ' '
