Taupiri Sports.

The Taupiri sports came off on Saturday, 23rd iust. The weather M*as fine, and there was a fair attendance of visitors. The sports commenced with a High Jump, which was was won by 0. McNeish, who also carried ofF the '300 yards Hurdle Race. In the 100 yards Flat Race, Williams and a Maori, came in almost together, and, a dispute having arisen, it was decided by the sports committee in favour of the Maori, Potu. The two-paddle Maori Canoe Race came next. Three crews competed, and after an exciting race, Paroa and Karaka won by about two lengths. The 1| miles horse race was won by Potentate, The Count coming in second. The Hurdle Race was won by The Count, beating two others. The Boy's Race, pxnaay boom, &o. A brought the day's gjjorfc to a close.
