THAMES, Last Night. At the Police Court this morning, before Mr Kennck and Mr Bagnall, Captain G. Rolton was sued by his daughter for the maintenance of her illegitimate child by him. Accused denied the charge. The Resident Magistrate said the matter should be looked into by the poUot>, as either the girl was guilty of perjury, or her father of .a seiuoua crime. The case was adjourned till Friday, 29th December, the police meantime taking the matter in hand.
GREYMOUTH, Last Night. John Wallace, storoman for Felix Campbell, was found hanging in the store when opened this morning. He was a fine strong and steady man, but did not feel well lately, and had been heard to say he would never be a burden to society by a long illness. It is supposed he committed suicide under the impression that lie was goiug to be ill.
