ALEXANDRA.
Dramatic Entertainment. The Alexandra Amateur Dramatic Club gave one of their popular entertainments in the Public 'Hall on Friday which was fairly patronised, the proceeds being devoted' to the "hall fund. The pieces placed on the stage were the comedy, "The Artful. jDodgo," 'and the farce, "John Wopps, or .from Information I Received." In the ' first piece,' Mr Chappell, as Mr Grudge,- sustained the character most admirably and his " getup" was in most perfect keeping. Mr Charlton, as Demosthenes Dodge, kept the audience in roars' of laughter: The other, characters were also well sustained, the lady amateurs particularly identity" ing j, themselves f with, their , respective characters, entirely .free, from nervousness or affection. At the conclusion of the piece the applause of the audience was most enthusiastic.
