LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Last Night.
A Sad End. A man named Richard Hardy was brought to the Hospital yesterday, suffering from severe cuts, about the head and face. He died half-an-hour afterwards. An inquest was held this afternoon, when a woman named, Reilly stated that she had been living with deceased for a fortnight, during which time he, spent £5 a day in treating her. Deceased had been constantly drunk during that time. The medical evidence was to tjje efFect that death had been caused,by apoplexy and by the pressure of a large clot of blood on the brain. >'
Harbour Board Improvements. The Harbour Board have purchased Burtt's allotment on the wharf for the purpose of widening Quay-street to a hundred teet.
'Bus Accident. ' Potter's 'liv's was capsized near Mount Albert to-day. The driver says :—": — " A bicyclist met me near Bowen's bakery, and, instead of going off the road, jumped off his machine right in front of my leader, causing the horses to shy and go over a bit oi a bauk, and the coach capsized." There were six or seven inside, and eight outside passengers, several of whom Were injured. Mrs* Foley received a severe shaking, and was hurt. .She was conveyed to her residence, Newlynn, where medical assistance was obtained, ' Miss AVilkie was also slightly hurt. The driver's arm, hip and shoulders were bruised, and several others go! oft' with bruises and cuts. ' * *
