RUSSELL, Last Night. An accident happened to a half-caste boy at Waimate whilst ruling one of Mr Parker's horses, by which one of his logs was very badly smashed by coining into contact with a puriri post. It is doubtful if he will recover.
CHIUSTCHURUH, Last Ni«ht. Two men bathing on the North Brighton beach were chased by a shark, and succeeded in making their escape by the shark getting stranded on the beach. It was canturcd and brought to tow n. A child named Ada Whitelow wandered trom her home at Woodend on Thursday last, and roamed about the sand hills without food until yesterday, when she was found by two boys. She •was in a veiy weak and delirious state, but is now recovering. Large search parties wore out every day until she was tound.
