A. letter wab iceehed fiom INIi Roth well, calling attention to tlie need of icpairs to the old Hamilton road near hib property, and asking to be allowed to expend his rates on it. The becictary was insti noted to acknowledge receipt ot letter, and inform Mr Roth well that he must pay his rates, but the board will give the mattei their attention as early as possible. — Mr .Salmon wrote, enclosing a letter received by him from the Public "\y 01 ks Department, and asking for compensation lor land taken for the new Hamilton load. The secretary was ouleied to intoiiu Mr .Salmon that the work in question having been done by the Hamilton boaul, and the load being now declared a colonial or main road, this board could not recognise any responsibility in the matter. Roads and Jiinnoi^ Coxstkhtiox Act.— A letter was received fiom Mr 0. Day, as chaii man of a meeting held at WhaUwhata, abking the chairman of this board to ascertain the feeling of the ratepayers on the ad viability of boi lowing money for load uoik& under the provisions, of the lloads and Budges Construction Act passed dining the late session. It was decided to call a meeting at Whatawhata on Saturday, November 25th, and one at Ngarivnvahia on Saturday, December '2nd, to consider the matter — each meeting to be held at 3 o'clock p.m. Su.si'i:\\siox ok CouxTib.s Act. — It was resolved that a letter be addressed to Capt. Lindsay, as councillor for the riding, asking him to support Mr Lake's motion for hanging iip the Counties Act, of which notice was given at the last meeting of the Waipa County Council. Mb Bonfrky'jj Claim. —The secretary informed the board that Mr 11. Hadfield had consented to act as arbitrator for this body in the matter in dispute with Mr Bonfrey. It was decided that a letter be written to Mr Bonfrey, asking him if he had appointed any one to act for him, and requesting that an early date be fixed for settling this difficulty, at the same time enclosing a rough copy of an agreement to be signed by Mr Bonfrey and the chairman of the board, binding each pai ty to abide by the decision to bo given by the arbitrators. called to the bad state of the road near the bush at Whatawhata, (last winter it was dangerous for traffic) it was resolved to write to the Hamilton board asking if they still have money to expend in this work ; if not, to write to the Minister for Public Works on the subject.— This concluded the business.
