NEW STEAMERS FOR THE COLONY. [BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Last Night.
Wkllixgton, Night. The first -steamer of the New Zealand Shipping Company's line will proceed to Wellington-ami Lyttelton, and loads at the Latter port in a month. ' After that the directors of the company will be open to make satisfactory arrangements for loading the steamers -of tlie line at Port Chalmers and other places as the trade may warrant. The steamers are all to be fitted with the moat approved refrigerating machinery, and are not likely to exceed a draft of from 22 feet to 23 feet loaded. The passenger accommo*dation of the boats, which are being, built for the company by Messrs Elder, of the Clyde, will- be of the mo3t"superior description, and the vessels will be fitted with all modern appliances. - The sea-going speed will be 12 knots. With such boats, a 45 to 50 days' service, with' easy Running, will 'be assured. • '- :
