The Assault on Mr McMillan. Auciuaxd, Last Night. This charge of assault by Frank Cornwall upon Mr McMillan was heard at the Police Court to-day. The defendant was sentenced to one clay's hard labor.
The Robbery on the Steamer Wellington. The Police Court has been occupied boclay with the case against four of tiie crew of the steamer Wellington, charged w.ith stealing £652 worth of jewellry belonging to Mr Marison, Scott of Wellington The jewellery had' been placed in a box in the hold, and was sent from the steamer to the Albert' Hotel, the owner believing Ifc as sound. It was' riot till .a few, days afterwards, on going to take some of the contents, ne'fountl the contents abstracted aiid gave 'intormatidn to, the police. New Groldmining Company. At a full meeting of the shareholders of the Southern Cross Golclmining, it was decided to amalgamate with the Deep Level Tribute Company. The New company will be called the Deep Level Cross Company, and' will consist of 100,000 shares. '
