Mr LoV£GROV>k, .pajutev, of Waikato, who claims the Derwentwater Estates, is now in Auckland, endeavouring to make financial arrangements for his visit to England to prosecute his claim. The estates were forfeited' in 1716 by the 'attainHeK'b T P4l«imcS, T: iHird "fearl, on' a charge of high treason (he having supported the cause tof the Pretender), for which i hci i was ibpheaded.' ■ Mrs Loyegro've (claimant's mother), holds the family pedigree's dh6" wing her i!o ' he the groat-great'-grahd-rlaughter i' of Francis Radciiffc, second Earl of Derwentwater, who lnatriedJ' the younger 1 daughter of King Charles 11. She is now seventy years of age 1 . The claim arises in consequence ot an order made by the Queen about forty years ago, for the restoration of the property, and the rightful heir has since been sought in vain. The estates have been in Chancery ever since, and the gaccuinulafcipus ,rench close on four million/ sie|liug ? by < iio\?. T.he annual income is £90,000.
