THE CAMBRIDGE WEST SCHOOL.
TO TUB EDJTfHI. , , Sir,— At a full meeting of the Cambridge West School Committe held on the 15th ult. , prcit indignation yv.ws expressed on receiving a copy of a letter front tlie Central Board of Education, written by the late teacher, entirely repudiating all action taken on her (Miss Allens) behalf, and stating that such action was without her sanction, and opposed to her wishes. The committee consider such a statement should not be allowed to go uncontradicted, as it places them in a false position, but static most emphatically th.it all action taken by them was with the full consent' and\ concurrence of Miss Allen, and that she personally thanked the chairman of committee for the stand they took on her behalf. And, as a proof of the above^ she told more than one that if the Board of Education was willing she would remain. The committee are sorry Mr Laishley's motion is withdrawn,' as the principle is what they were contending for, viz., that the Central Board lias no right to ovcridc the wishes of nine-tenths of the parents in removing or appointing a teacher against their wishes, or,\yorse still, to invite suggestions from the local committee re the dismissal, while, they by the same mail sent the letter dismissing teacher. — On behalf o&the committee.
