THE LATE ENTERTAINMENT AT KIHIKIHI.

TO THE EDITOK. Sir, — Impartial as I am to newspaper writing, 1 regret to state that I am compelled to write in self-defence to trouble you to correct an erroneous statement that appeared in your columns of Thursday last, the 9th inst, by a person who signed himself " W. Paltridge," which is only a blind for "H. Edwards," another half-caste. The article begins, "The Irish- Tiger, erstwhile the British Lion," &c, meaning characters that has been taken by me, the undersigned, in farces, accusing the said Irish Tiger or British Lion of roaring in your columns, as he terms it, in an article that appeared on the 2nd inst., giving the particulars of an entertainment given by the Kilukihi negro troupe. This is the second time that this person has written libelous articles to papers against me, because he thought I had written against him. Iv denying being the author of the said report of the 2nd inst., I will add that I know nothing of the matter until I saw it in print. By endorsing the above, Mr Editor, you will enable your readers to turn back to your columns of the 9th, and road the imprecations of W. Paltridge hurled back on to his own head. — I am, Sec, C. G. Thomas. [Our correspondent is quite right. He was not the writer ot the letter in our issue of the 2nd iust. *N6 doubt, *h'e has just cause to feel agriered, but he miglrUiave spared us the pain attendant upon tbe excision of portions of his letter which were infinitely mbre'offdusive than anything, contained -in r^Jc Paltridje'a note.
