The Late Drowning Case. Auckland, Laat Night. A dead body, found floating in the harbour near Calliope graving-dock, has been identified as the body of William Cook, who was drowned by the upsetting of the Madge.
The Pokeno Shooting Affray. Tlie younger Long was placed on tl>d train from Pokeno to-day, and oil the" ar rival of the train was driven to the hospital. Should he recover, and there appears at present great probability that he will, proceedings will be taken against him by the police on t.he serious charge of attempting his father's life. The condition of both men was rather improved to-day.
The Alleged Poisoning Disproved. An exhaustive analysis by Mr Pond shows there was no arsenic in tli£ body of the late Mrs Hedges, and iier daughter's statements are therefore proved to be absolutely false.
