Auckland, Last Night. Creditors' Meeting. A meeting of the creditors' of Mr T. M. Daves, Auckland, commission agent, mas held to-day. The debtor's liabilities aie £800, ami tlie assets about £.150. Amongst the creditors is Bishop Neville, of Dnnedin, whose lume figures for £150. Mr Bennett, accountant, was elected trustee. The bankrupt was examined by the trustee at length, and rather severely handled, and after much comment by the creditors.' on the bankrupt's a (fails and his mode of living since Febuuvy last, it was proposed by Mr Duf.uir and unanimously carried that the tiustec ascertain if any legal steps could be taken to prosecute the bankrupt.
Ministers' Movements. The hon. Premier, Mr Whitaker, is occupied w ith business incidental to his post. He lias soiiid local matteis to attend to, which will detain him heie for about three weeks, after which he will return to the Empire City. He lias no intention at present of \isiting Waikato. The hon. Mrßryce was engaged to-day at his office, Prince&s-street, with visitors, chiefly of the M.ion race. His private secretary, Mr Butler, left by this morning's tiain for Waikato, to ascertain what Tawhiao and other influential chiefs have to say. The information that he sendn down will largely determine Mmisteis' movements and these will probably be arranged by Thursday or Friday.
Land Sale. Mr Sibbin's sale of Victoria Park, North Shore, this afternoon, was largely attended. Nearly alllots were quitted at good prices. It is estimated that the whole sale will realise £8000. Front lots on the Dcvonpovt-Takapuna road realised from ISs to 2<)s per ioofc. The low land in Princeos-stieet brought 6s per foot. Lots facing other streets irom 9s to £1 per foot.
The Barque Gazelle. Stone Bros, received information today that the Government decided to release the barque Gazelle, for which the firm are agents, on condition that the fine of JCoO lie paid in addition to all expenses.
Fashionable Marriage. Tlic mariiage of Mr Tole, M.H.R., to Miss Lewis, daughter of Mr E. Lewis, merchant, Custom-house, •will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Wednesday next, at noon. Civil Service Examination. There are twenty-tliree candidates for the Civil service'examination.
