THAMES, Last Night. The manager of Deep Level tubute tried to get to the bottom level of the Big Pump shaft to-day, but there was about 4ft ot water on the flats. The shaft is slightly over 040 feet fiom the surface. The water will be down to-morrow it the pump continues to work well as at present. The shaft was found to be in good order.
OPUNAKE, Last Night. The largest procession of Maori (hays since the break-up ot Parihaka passed through this morning. The cUmvs were laden with potatoes for distribution to the various settlements on the Waimate Plains, It is said there arc hundreds of tons atPaiihaka which cannot possibly be cousumed, besides aeies upon acres that have not been dug up.
